Lifelong Learning

‘Everything teaches. Not everyone learns.’

I love looking at life as a schoolroom. When we start to view the world this way, every day holds a lesson plan, and we always get some homework assigned at the end of the day.

The thing is (as today’s quote reminds) attendance is not mandatory. Anyone who wants to close their mind to the teachings of the universe is free to do so. But just like in the real world, they get held back for doing so.

There are plenty of folks out there who choose to spend their time on the playground rather than sitting down for the lessons… but I am convinced that over time, those that stay on the playground, find that the novelty of ‘all play and no work’ begins to wear off.

I believe that we all come here to learn and grow- not to stay comfortable and static. Personal growth is not for the meek- it requires that we roll up our sleeves and do the work. And when we do, we quickly learn that the more life lessons we tackle, the more complicated they tend to get.  It is called advanced education for a reason.  I am not sure when, or if, we ever get to graduate- but I do know that dropping out is not the answer. Show up and tackle whatever the lesson plan holds- if you do this, you may not always be comfortable, but you will always be wise.
