Distance Running

 

Go the extra mile. It’s never crowded.

Yes it is true… that extra mile can be a lonely one. Bare minimum or doing only what is necessary seems to be the norm these days. If you are someone who regularly goes ‘above and beyond’, you know all too well how true this quote is.

The best defense to avoid becoming bitter, is to make sure that your inner circle is composed of fellow ‘extra mile-ers.’ And if it’s not….  you may want to re-configure who you spend your time with.

I have to admit, I do get disappointed when someone proves to be a short distance runner in my life, but their power over my outlook is minimal because I keep them on the perimeter. My inside track is populated by those closest to me- a husband, a family, and a few cherished besties, who all go the distance for others (and for me when I need them to.)

Long distance running is easier, when you do it in a pack
