This quote is such a potent reminder that if we are willing to go toward what we fear, it is likely to get smaller as we move closer in proximity. When we run away from or avoid what we fear, it skews our perception and our eyes are likely to play tricks on us.
Like the old monster in the closet adage- most scary things, when investigated and exposed to the light, turn out to be nothing more than an inert pile of nothingness, with a deceptively big shadow.
