Finding a Way…

“Only from the heart can you touch the sky.’ Rumi

As I walked out onto our front porch yesterday, my vision caught on some tender young leaves poking through the rocks. The perfect visual for the vernal equinox also known as the first day of spring in the Northern hemisphere.

Spring is as much a season as it is a state of mind, and sure, it’s full of potential and new beginnings, but ….before we talk about the blooms, let’s talk about those rocks. Rocks are oppressive. They are heavy. They are stubborn… and no matter what our life may look like on the outside (or on our social media feed) we all have rocks sitting above the new growth we are reaching toward.

This is not a bad thing…. It is just a thing- because without some labor there is never going to be a birth.

New growth is hard work, but as we emerge from the dark cocoon of winter- a natural time of hibernation and quiet restoration, we are better equipped to push through the rocks than at any other time… so gather up your energy and shake off that last little bit of winter that may be blocking the light.

Early Spring is not a time of ease, it is a time of pushing through to new growth. It may not be effortless, but it is what we are hard wired to do….

Finding a way through the rocks is not just for tulips, but for us two leggers as well.
