Seeking Shelter

” I felt it shelter to speak to you.” Emily Dickinson

May we each be strong enough to offer shelter when it is needed and wise enough to seek it when we must. If we are in one of life’s storms, and someone offers us refuge, it takes a special kind of strength to let ourselves become small and step inside. Remember an unused shelter is nothing but a dark dwelling- but a shelter that gives safety to one who has been out in the wind- that shelter becomes lit from within.

Seeking shelter in those around us, is often harder than it should be.  Most of us do a great job of holding others up but when it’s our turn to lean in, we often fight it outright. Are you able to seek shelter when you need to?Do you offer it when you can? There is a time to be both the refuge and the refugee.
