Sailing

‘I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship.’ Louisa May Alcott

Maybe these lives that we have are the ‘ships’ and the storms we face are only there to help us become sea worthy. For all of the storms I have known in my own life, I have always been able to look back once the storm has passed and see how far I have traveled.

Storms push us, they shake us, they stretch us…. But they always make us move and grow.

Instead of cursing the weather (which changes nothing) we can instead batten down the hatches, hunker down, and ride it out.  And once the storm has passed, we will see that it has changed things in our world….. perhaps taken old things away and made something we had overlooked suddenly look shiny and brand new.

The storms always come for a reason…. And sometimes they arrive just to help us learn to sail our ship.
