Safely Home

‘We’re all just walking each other home.’   Ram Das

This is a quote I have used before, but one that can never be said too often. Yesterday’s blog post about American journalist James Foley received more views than any Rx to date.  I heard from many who said that the information shared had felt like a ‘balm to the soul.’  That was wonderful to hear, because one soul at a time is exactly how this world must heal.

One of my strongly held personal beliefs is this; When one of us breaks, we all break. When one of us heals, we all heal.  When James Foley was broken before us, some part of each of us broke with him. When one of us finds a way to begin healing and to make meaning out of this horrific event, on some level others heal with us.

We each have our part- sometimes we follow, and sometimes we lead. When our personal sense of feeling safe in a benevolent universe is restored, the world becomes a lighter safer place for everyone. This is why it is true that we are all just walking each other home.
