Living in the Moment

‘Sooner or later we all discover that the important moments in life are not the advertised ones, not the birthdays, the graduations, the weddings, not the great goals achieved  The real milestones are less prepossessing. They come to the door of memory unannounced, stray dogs that amble in, sniff around a bit and simply never leave. Our lives are measured by these.’ Susan B. Anthony

This quote is like drinking in the fragrance of the sweetest bloom; a reminder to live in the moment- and that moments are what add up in the end. Life has taught me this truth.

I have been blessed with some’big’ moments in my life- those tinged with glory and acheivement. What this has taught me is that the big moments are nice, but their pleasure is fleeting. The glow wears off and there is no warmth in the wake left behind. The little moments though-these are different. Little moments may be short on glory but their strength comes from their sheer numbers. Like little soldiers in a line, the little moments are never ending and relentless… and if we learn to seize them when they come…they will fill the dry places in us… one  little drop at a time.

Notice the moments that fill your cup today. Savor the drops and remember they are what will fill your cup.
