Home with the big H . . .

I am the ultimate homebody and my home (with the little ‘h’) is my happy place. It is filled with the people I love, the treasures I collect, and all of the memories that make up the measure of my life. Within my love for this abode, however, is the awareness of this larger truth; that the physical structure that I find so comforting, is nothing more than a container – one that life could empty out at any time.

Today’s quote is such a good reminder that our ‘home’ with the little ‘h’, whether rented, owned, grandiose or made of mud- is nothing more than a place you enter and exit as you live your life.

Bless it, and live your life within its walls, but do not expect it to offer you lasting shelter- for at some point, the storms of life always dismantle our homes with the little ‘h.’

Home with the big ‘H’ is the place we must journey toward, although it is not a place at all- it is a state of being- one that we can cultivate in every moment and carry with us everywhere we go.
