Hard Days

Soul work is not a high road. It’s a deep fall into an unforgiving darkness that won’t let you go until you find the song that sings you home.  McCall Erickson

It seems that life has been bringing hard growth to many lately. I have felt it in my own life, watched those I love battle through it, and have sat in silence with the rest of the world as hardship upon hardship hits the human race as a whole.

When we have been doing the hard hard work of true spiritual growth- it seems that the high road should emerge before us. Logic tells us that due to our hard work life should get easier. Yet often instead of the high road opening up, the opposite happens, and life hits us with yet one more tidal wave of pain and disappointment. Why???? Why does this happen?

It happens because: ‘Soul work is not a high road. It’s a deep fall into an unforgiving darkness that won’t let you go until you find the song that sings you home.’

Do not let the hard days extinguish your light- let them sing you home….
