This is one of my favorite quotes, and a testament to what true faith is all about. Faith is easy to espouse on the good days…. but it is during the dark days that we really need to work hard to pull it close to us. For every darkness there is a reason. For every heartbreak there is a lesson.
Faith cannot take the darkness away but it can give us a candle to walk through it with. We sometimes by-pass the candle because we want the searchlight… refusing the candle and awaiting the searchlight is where many become lost.
I have learned that as long as I have one small candle of faith lit within me, I can find my way through any expanse of darkness. And sometimes my candle can light someone else’s…. and then there is even more light for the journey. Here is to keeping our candles lit and finding our way when the path is dim.
